Heading Tags - H1 through H6
Heading Tags provide a way to tell the search engines as well as your visitors what should be important on a page or even a paragraph. To explain a header tag in visitor terms, they are the equivalent to the larger or heavier text that might be seen on a magazine page. The lower the heading tag number ( H1 vs. H2) the higher the priority.
Search engines can use heading tags as part of their algorithm help to define your page content. Using all H1 tags or multiple H1 tags is not recommended. However using multiple H2 through H6 tags is often acceptable by search engines as well as the visitor.
We recommend using (1) H1 tag and placing it at the top of the text content of your page. Use H2 through H6 tag to further clarify the H1 tag.
Here are examples:
H1 = Red Bicycles
H2 = Fast Red Bicycles
H3 = Fast Red Street Bicycles
H4 = Fast Red Girls Street Bicycle
H2 through H6 tags lessen in importance as the tag number goes higher. It’s a good idea to coordinate your H1 through H3 tags with your other SEO keywords.
